The Last Change - The Writer's Cut (102 mins)
The Last Change is one of the most ambitious and technically demanding films ever made in the Super8 film medium. In 1982 three filmmakers in Bath (Andy Sparrow, Pete Issacs & Chris Williams) set out to make a feature length science fiction thriller to be shot in 8mm cinemascope. The challenges of working in this medium were huge and are described in detail on the Third Eye Films website. The project took nine years to complete and the finished film had a running time of 110 minutes. Twentyfive years later scriptwriter Andy Sparrow reworked the original film and produced this much shorter and leaner version. Please make allowances for the image quality which has been converted from 8mm film stock.
Solo (1997)
Written and directed by Andy Sparrow. This award winning film from 1997 reveals the innermost thoughts, hopes and fears of a lone caver explorer as he delves ever deeper into an unknown cave. Winner of the National Speleological Society video salon in 2000 and awarded a special commendation by the jury at the international caving film festival in La Chapelle en Vercors in the same year.
A Rock and a Hard Place (60mins, 2005)
Written and directed by Andy Sparrow. This is the award winning dramatised true story of cave discoveries in a Somerset quarry. In 1961 a small group of cavers made the first exploration of an exceptionally beautiful cave. It was the first in a series of discoveries that would raise issues and questions about how we value the natural world. The quarrying of limestone that had revealed these wonders was also, potentially, their agent of destruction.
